The qilin is an extremely rare part dragon-part horse creature with the ability to look into a person’s soul. During the walk of the qilin, the creature determines the new leader of the magical community.
I love to imagine Ron coming home one day after taking the kids out for ice-cream, and hearing laughter in the kitchen
He thinks, “maybe Ginny popped around” and goes to the kitchen to say hi
He stops abruptly, confused at the sight
The two women see him in the doorway and his look of confusion makes them laugh even harder
“Lavender?” Ron says, shocked

“Hi, Ron,” she smiles
“Lavender and I ran into each other, we were just catching up,” Hermione says
They explain how they had bumped into each other outside the Ministry
And how they had gotten to talking which led to a long overdue talk about sixth year
“I’m sorry for how I was,” Hermione had said. “I’m so embarrassed about how I behaved back then. You did nothing wrong, I was just jealous and childish.”
“You?” Lavender had replied. “I cringe every time I think about myself back then. I was so insecure. I was hardly a saint to you either.”
They had laughed about it, how they had been at sixteen
“It was my fault,” said Ron. “If I had just been honest about how I was feeling, it would have saved everyone a lot of trouble. I’m sorry, Lav. I was a shit boyfriend.”
She smiled. “We were sixteen and stupid. I’m glad you’re happy, Ron.”
And that’s how Lavender became friends with Ron and Hermione years after leaving Hogwarts
